Manuscript Features

Out of the originally 29 fols. of this MS only ten are extant, in the following order: 18; 16; 6; 5; 9?; 19; 20; 24; 23; 29. Fols. 5; 19; 23; 29 are damaged. Verses are counted in tens.

i) One unnumbered fol. containing the final verses of the third śataka of the same text, i.e. the Cāṇakyasārasaṅgraha (exp. 3).

ii) Another singular fol., damaged at the right-hand margin, numbered “77”, containing subhāṣitas from the Hitopadeśa. Each verse is numbered, extant are verses 614–619. All of them figure in Böhtlink’s “Indische Sprüche”, 2nd edition (exp. 3 bottom – 4 top). This fol. may belong to some text called Hitopadeśaślokasaṅgraha (cf. B 15/44) or Hitopadeśaślokasamuccaya.

iii) Still another singular fol., slightly damaged at the right-hand margin, numbered “13” (?), containing again verses from the first śataka of the Cāṇakyasārasaṅgraha (exp. 15 bottom – 16).
