Manuscript Features

The Sanskrit of the text contained in this MS appears to be generally corrupt. For this reason it is not worth marking all the corruptions in the text cited in the excerpts. At the end of the MS after the scribe’s verses there appear 7 stray verses apparently from different sources. Some of these verses can be traced in different subhāṣita collections. These verses have been added probably in order to fill with text the whole recto side of the last leaf. The verso side is blank.

The date in the MS is given as: samvat 496 māghakṛṣṇapañcamyān tithau || svātinakṣatre || dhruvayoge || somavāsaradine samāptam idaṃ ||. This corresponds to February 11th 1376 AD. Śāstri read 495 instead of 496.<ref name="ftn1">Śāstri 1915, p. 29: “The date of copying is N.S. 495”; cf. however p. 28: “Date ?”.</ref>
