Text Features The MS contains the textus simplicior (see Schmidt 1893). Since the end of the 12th tale and the beginning of the 13th tale have been omitted, the number 12 has been written at the end of the 13th tale. The very end of the 51st tale and the beginning of the 52nd tale (the 52nd and the 53rd stories in Schmidt’s edition) seem to have also been omitted. Since the tale following the 53rd (i.e. the 54th tale in the edition) has been numbered as 55, the numbering thereafter coincides. The 58th tale of Schmidt’s edition is missing just as in his MS P. Thereafter the numbers differ again.

Manuscript Features

This MS has already been briefly described by Śāstri. There the following note concerning the material of the MS has been made: “The MS. is written on palmleaf up to 78th leaf, and up to the 40th tale. The rest has been restored on paper cut in the form of palmleaf, and the date refers to the restoration.”<ref name="ftn1">Śāstri 1915, p. 1 (III.350 B).</ref> A similar note has been made on the original index card: “part palm-leaf, part paper”. On the microfilm the difference in material can hardly be observed. In any case, both parts are written by the same scribe. Apparently the scribe ran short of palmleaves and switched to writing on paper.

The date in the colophon is given in two alternative ways. It corresponds to: Friday, October 2th (September 22th old style) 1665 AD.

The folio after to fol. 93 has been numbered 95 instead 94; there is no text missing there.

On fol. 1r a single line is written which begins with ❖ oṃ namaḥ śrīhariharābhyāṃ nama || and ends with sadā (na)ma.
