Manuscript Features

In 1970 Tarapada Mukharji published an edition of the Gopīcandranāṭaka with an introduction, notes and glossary from Calcutta University. It is based on the Cambridge manuscript of a 17^th century Bengali play from Nepal.

(Stuttgart : Franz Steiner Verlag, 1992. Reprint) notes regarding add. 1389: Gopī–candra–nāṭaka ( vernacular )

1. Siddhinarasiṃha is mentioned at 61a.
2. Govinda-candra , is mentioned as “Bangero adhipati” at 1.b , 1.1 .

Mukharji’s Gopīcandranāṭaka seems to be the same as the one in Bendall’s Catalogue. The following Bengali-Newari Gopīcandranāṭakas given below seems to be related to the published nāṭaka.
