Manuscript Features

This MS constitutes a commentary on the Uṇādisūtra of the Cāndra system of grammar. It is attributed to Candragomin himself in some MSS.

Many clerical errors have crept in, possibly because the scribe copied from a MS written in Maithilī or a like script. The colophon gives the date as samvatsara veda-nāga-graha, which, read from left to right, represents 489 (around AD 1369). Normally, symbolical words representing numbers in dates are written in reversed order, which would amount to NS 984 (around AD 1864). This, however, seems to be too unlikely a date for this MS.

Fols. 17–20 are missing. Exposure 2 shows the back of fol. 1v with the stamp of the NAK.
