Manuscript Features

This MS comprises parts of Dharmadāsa's Vṛtti on the first pāda of the sixth adhyāya of Candragomin's grammar. The extant parts are 6.1.1 (exp. 8 above) up to 6.1.49 (exp. 2), and 6.1.62 (exp. 4 below) up to 6.1.87 (exp. 5 below). If there was any original foliation, it has been lost due to physical damage.

Three foliios have been microfilmed twice: exp. 6 above = exp. 5 below; exp. 6 below = exp. 5 above; exp. 7 above = exp. 4 below.

Exp. 7 below shows a cover folio, as well as exp. 9 below. Exp. 10 above shows the back of the latter, which originally must have been part of another MS, written in another hand. Not being part of the Cāndravṛtti, this fragment belongs to another commentary on the sūtras of Candragomin.

All folios are damaged on the left-hand side, thus some 15 per cent of the writing of each folio is lost. Moreover, the folio on exp. 11 is partly folded, some akṣaras being thus invisible on the microfilm.
