Text Features The author of this unpublished melodious drama written in functional Sanskrit is Jitāmitra Malla, as indicated by the word ‘bhaṇita’ in the Prastāvanā Aṅka and in several songs. The same is indicated in the colophon: jitāmitramalladevena nāṭakaṃ siddhaṃ. This nāṭaka was staged by (dayakā juro) Crown Prince Bhūpatīndra Malla.

This text was written during the joint rule of Jitāmitra Malla, his brother Ugra Malla and Crown Prince Bhūpatīndra Malla. Jitāmitra Malla and Ugra Malla are recorded as joint rulers in NS 801=1681 A.D. in a Viṣṇumaṇḍala paubhā (Slusser, vol. II, plate 383).

Two versions of this nāṭaka, abridged (A 346/3) and complete (A 346/8) have been located. The dates given in both versions are the same
