(See also Help:Reading a catalogue entry#Convenions if you need a reference to conventions used in catalogue entries.)

Here is the steps to prepare a new catalogue entry:

1. Get the template if you don't have one; it is available at: Help:Entry template.

2. Fill it in as usual.

3. Get to the wiki: http://134.100.72.204/wiki/Main_Page and log in if you are not.

4. Identify the entry where the catalogue entry should be written. (See Help:Browsing and searching if you don't know how.)

5. Enter the editing page (click the third tab "edit" on top of the main content of the page).

6. Copy and paste the following four lines

{| align="right"
 | __NOTOC__
 |}
<div style="float:left;width:30%; padding:0em 1em; margin:0px">

after the line that has two closing braces "}}" near the top in the source, i.e., the end of the infobox template

}}

before something like

<!-- id in online title card: 98655 -->
<!-- id in older access database: 98655 -->
<!-- manuscript id in the access database: 16226 -->

(The figures will vary.)

7. Remove the line that mentions the title. That should look like

'''Title''' Navaratnastotra

after the reel no. The title will subsequently be recorded.

8. Go to the bottom of the page.

7. Copy and paste the catalogue data you have created in step 2.

8. Make sure to save at the end of editing.

A general note: Don't worry about making mistake; they will be easily corrected.
