The Nepal-German Manuscript Preservation Project was founded in 1970. The aim of the project was to preserve the extraordinary wealth of Nepalese manuscripts. After three decades of microfilming activity, in the course of which the bulk of Nepal's written tradition could be preserved, the project came to an end in March 2002.
