Foliation There are two foliations, one in the left- and one in the right-hand margin. The latter is continuous from beginning to end, with some misnumbering and lack of foliation. (Sometimes there are two folio numbers on the right: one the continuous number, and the other the folio number within the current paṭala.) The left-hand foliation is more erratic: sometimes it recommences at the beginning of a paṭala, and sometimes runs on, and sometimes the foliation is out of order. In any case, the text as it appears on the microfilm is in sequential order. The foliation cited throughout this catalogue entry refers to the number in the right-hand margin. Folios with no folio number are referred to by exposure number.
Fols. 1–24: figures in the upper left-hand margin under the abbreviation meru. and in the lower right-hand margin under the word taṃtra on the verso.
Fols. 25–48: figures in the extreme lower right-hand margin on the verso.
Fols. 49–63: figures in the upper left-hand margin and in the extreme lower right-hand margin on the verso.
From fol. 64 (right margin) on, the folio numbers in the two margins vary: the foliation in the upper left-hand margin begins with 71. Sometimes the figure in the right-hand margin appears in the middle rather than in the lower part of the margin. In some cases, the figures in either margin are illegible, and in other cases the figures have been corrected.

The MS is written in Newari script on fols. 1–23, and from fol. 24v on it is written in Devanagari script in a different hand.

There is another foliated folio on a lined page between fols. 160 and 161 not containing any part of the Merutantra, only the name of some owner or donor and one extraneous verse. The folio number is given as 168 in the upper left-hand margin under the title merutantraḥ and as 161 in the lower right-hand margin on the verso.

Except for a few letters of the first line, all of fol. 208v is completely illegible.
The folio number 213 is mistakenly assigned twice to two successive folios.
Although fol. 215 is disappeared, fol. 216 is mentioned twice with no repeat ion of the text. So, the first one should be the fol. 215.
Fol. 221 is not mentioned text is continuous. In the extreme lower right-hand margin of fol. 220 is written 221 as well.
Fols. 222 and 223 are mentioned twice text is not double. Afterwards the correct number is added in the extreme lower right-hand margin.
Fol. 228 (in the lower right-hand margin, but in the upper left-hand margin it is correct) is mistakenly numbered as 238.
Fols. 230 and 231 is disappeared with no loss of text.
Fol. 234 mistakenly numbered 232.
Fols. 237–341 are recorrected.
Fol. 249 is mentioned twice instead of fol. 251.
Fol. 254 is mentioned twice instead of fol. 256.
Fols. 260 and 261 are mistakenly numbered 250 and 259.
Fols. 261 and 262 should be numbered 262 and 262 and should be run soforth.
Fol. 262 is blank with no loss of text. (From the fol. 263r, new paṭala starts.)
After the fol. 288, the MS is written with different hand.
Non-foliated folios start after the fol. 331. Unknown numbers of folios (folios are non-foliated after the fol. 331) are missing after the fol. 331v.
There are different foliations and MS is foliated randomly. Some where from every paṭala (chapter) new foliation starts.
There are two exposures of fols.42v–43r, 122v–123r, 125v–126r, 133v–134r, 139v–140 and 209v–210r.
Fols.2r, 2v, 27 and 28 are in reverse order.
