Manuscript Features

This MS comprises part of a sub-commentary (commonly styled Nyāsa) on the commentary called Kāśikā on Pāṇini's Aṣṭādhyāyī, to wit only the portion on the fourth Pāda of the second Adhyāya.

Fol. 1v starts with the commentary on Sūtra 2.4.1, the first few akṣaras being lost because of physical damage. Fol. 31v ends commenting on 2.4.71, leaving a lacuna on the last line. Thus, the remaining part of the fourth Pāda (up to 2.4.85) is equally missing.

Many folios are damaged in various degrees, thus:
fols. 1-5: part of the left-hand side of the MS is broken off, thus some five to ten akṣaras are being lost on each line;
fols. 18-26: slightly damaged
fols. 27-31: about a third of the fol. is broken off on the right.

Exposure 2 shows the inscription of the NAK on the cover leaf, on which this MS has been mistakenly styled Bhāṣāvṛttivyākaraṇam. This cover leaf, however, might have originally belonged to another MS of the same accession no., probably the one described in BSP, vol. VI, p. 45, no. 149. Cf. as well A 53/11.
