Many folios are damaged, with loss of up to half of the text. There are maginal comments in Newari script throughout the manuscript. Between the lines numbers have been inserted which indicate the anvaya and strokes that mark the word division.

The root text is written in a script that shows characteristics of both Maithili and Newari script.
